Hi Everyone,
In addition to creating a thought piece for this website yesterday, I have this for YouTube. This is a little different. More about how all of us, myself included, live with a powerful mystery for much of our lives. How we interact with it and, I suppose, how it ultimately transforms us. This is what I wrote for the YouTube description:
What does living with an unresolved mystery for many decades do to a person? In this video, I reflect on how the UFO subject changed my understanding of history, authority, secrecy, truth, and even the search for disclosure itself. But this is not simply a personal retrospective. It is about what happens to anyone who spends a lifetime pursuing answers that continually reveal deeper questions. Additionally, why the search for truth in the world may ultimately lead us toward the mystery inside ourselves.
It’s a little different for me, but I really enjoyed thinking about this. Curious about your reactions as well. I hope you enjoy.

Hey Brother! I forgot to ask you how you did at the batting cages? I drove past our local cages today and thought to myself I was supposed to ask you about that? Any solid hits?
I really need to post a video. Tracey took some good clips. Four rounds, 15 pitches each. Now, I should emphasize this was softball, not fast pitched baseball. Even so, they came in there pretty quick for me. First round, wiffed nearly every one. Second round, connected on all of them! Some nice solid shots, happy to say. 🙂 Third round, also awesome! Fourth round, this boy was getting tired. Swinging a bat is a lot more work these days. Hit a few, couldn’t get around on some, tried to switch to left-handed, hit a couple, but I was toast by the end. It was tremendously fun. And I do think I still have a sweet swing for a 64 year-old. Will definitely put up a belated video soon. Thanks for reminding me, Scott!

So glad I joined your group Richard. I’ve not heard anyone else in the UFO community talk about such things, especially the way it affects them personally. I’m aware that we’re constantly bombarded with stories that contradict what we’ve began to accept as a likely truth. For me I’ll always keep searching, though it seems the complete truth will probably never be known by people like me. I always shy away from people who claim they know the NHI agenda. It seems reality is stranger than we can imagine, Pete.

Well all I can say is that after a life time of studying the mysteries … more remains now than when I started 🤣 because, in a universe whose “center is everywhere, and circumference no where … It is kind of hard to find or define the boundaries! It is pretty hard to measure ones “understanding” about anything in the face of the infinite. Take a look at the hubble telescope image of deep deep space filled with more galaxies than grains of sand on a beach and then assume your understanding of anything that you think you understand about the universe … is at best one of those specs … if you are lucky. 🤣
But I digress, so here is my vent relative to “what remains”. What remains is to somehow get all these western academicians and researchers to wake up to the fact that there is a VERY LONG and erudite yogic tradition in the East … like thousands of years worth. Literally … and to maybe take a look over there for some vocabulary and a framework of understanding, etc rather than stare at their collective navels pondering it and surmising this and that. So many of them literally are totally unaware of it and do not know what they do not know.
I am increasingly frustrated by the growing number of voices discussing the “Consciousness” element and who actually know NOTHING about it. I speak of the Joe Rogan’s, Jesse Michaels, etc of the world …. actually two impressive figure and who actually DO know of such things but rarely let on are: Daniel Sheehan and Col Alexander. They drop a few crumbs here and there that tells someone with “Ears to Hear” that they know something. Anyway the rest have no idea that they are in a Plato’s Cave of sorts regarding this area, and that their bias and lack of understanding is a direct result of the last 2000 years of the Roman Catholic churches VERY concerted effort to stamp the awareness of such things out of every possible place and corner they could so as to not provide a competing paradigm.
That wall is cracking, but it is slow and the conditioning is deep. Even in such venues like the Telepathy tapes and which WILL eventually have a major effect on cracking the paradigm as a result of the very hard to ignore proofs provided by “the children”… almost sounds like something out of prophecy … out of the mouths of babes … wait there was one: “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.” Hmmm perhaps there is some inner plan or plot afoot. 🤣 But even there the producers are still a bit dull on this point. They are cracking and coming around. But gawd the process is slow and they are still stuck trying to get approval of the West. I understand why, but while they are at it, PLEASE consult the fkn eastern yogis. They might know a thing or two about it.
Ok… I think my rant is done for today. I rant here because you are the only one I know who might actually be able to get a word in edgwise relative to this subject in the UFO community.

Hello Richard and Forum. I’m new to the forums but I’ve been following your work, Richard, since I first read UFOs and the National Security State. I loved it – still do. I also just read this piece and I just had to finally put pen to paper (so to speak).
I became truly curious about the ufo subject when I first read Ruppelt’s book in the 8th grade in 69-70. After that, the librarian ordered UFO books for me and I was amazed that this was really something that seemed to be occurring, in spite of all I already knew about the cosmos, C, etc. I was a huge fan of Capt Kirk and figured there had to be a work-around for that little speed of light problem. Still do, in fact!
I’m now a semi-retired engineering geologist and i spent a lot of time outside, often looking up. I wanted so bad to actually see a real flying saucer filled with pancake-eating Lgm’s. As the yrs, then decades, passed with no joy, I figured it wasn’t going to happen and that maybe my lurking reductionist fears were correct and none of it was real after all.
That all changed in July, 2005, outside of Fall City, Washington State. At the time, I was a dad, husband, property owner, etc. I mostly hung out with people in my profession (or other old college friends) and I had to be careful about sharing my interest in the subject bc of the usual fear of ridicule, stigma, etc. Especially since I was supposed to be a hard-headed reductionist/materialist geologist, with no time for such tomfoolery.
Early one evening in July, my two young boys wanted to camp in the backyard, so we set up the tent, built a fire in the fire pit, got the marshmallows out and so forth. It was a beautiful indigo dusk out in the sticks about 22 miles east of Seattle and dead black at night. I had 13 ac up in the Cascade foothills and there was virtually no light pollution.
My older son, 8, went in to watch the tube, but Toby and I stayed outside. We had a completely inexplicable experience that was both remarkable and frightening (and ‘surreal’ though I dislike that term a lot) experience.
It takes a good bit of time to write it up properly and in detail, though I’ve done it twice. I just don’t share it widely for the usual reasons. I posted it once, anonymously, on one of the Reddit subs and I made a point of noting that my written account left out some of the more woo-like elements. I was astonished at the interest it rec’d and at the requests for the woo stuff! I didn’t follow up and have never posted it again.
Anyway, your piece reminds me that I think of that experience at least once per day if not more. It changed my life in ways I wouldn’t have expected. The mental health issues it raised/caused has been incredibly painful, though that has diminished over time. My youngest son who was six at the time recalls it very clearly (as I do) but will not discuss it other than about 3 nights after it happened and only very occasionally since, and only in generalities. He has admitted that it scared him almost to death and that he also recalls it very frequently. I believe it has affected both of us deeply and almost entirely negatively. I have reasons to believe we were abducted that night.
I have known since that night that these objects/beings are here and that they are neither fictitious nor illusory” (or something similar per that old general in the early ‘50s). They are real, they’re here, and i believe they’ve been here as long as modern humans have. I feel lucky that at least we’ve learned a lot of new stuff since 12-16-17 that I was worried I’d never learn anything before I croak – well, I have. Maybe I’ll expand on the description of the event itself. There are parts I still don’t believe happened, but they did. To both of us.
