Introducing RDM Senior Moderator, Dr. Bob McGwier

By | July 24, 2020

Adhering to the principle “better late than never,” we are extremely happy to welcome Dr. Bob McGwier as part of the RDM family. In fact, Bob has been an integral part of our site for quite some time, coming in several months ago to provide steady leadership of our Forum at a time when it was very much needed. Since then, that community has been thriving, and Bob has been integral in helping us expand our moderator team from one (him) to four (Bob, Jay, Sherry, and Mark). What a great team it is. (Of course, let’s not forget Kirsten, who has been with us as a key RD Member Host since close to the beginning).

Bob is much more than our moderator, however. He is a retired professor and chief scientist of the Hume Center for National Security and Technology at Virginia Tech. He started two companies, one is a satellite company, and the other a wireless communications company. He is now a member of and technical contributor to SkyHub for finding UAP/UFOs and getting scientific data. He resides near Auburn University in Alabama.

Please let’s take this opportunity to officially welcome Bob!

As a relatively new member myself, I’d like to welcome you to this group of disparate yet like-minded individuals.I know you’ve been a moderator for some time, but now this feels like you’ve been ‘outed’!

I discussed it with Richard and Tracey. I’m not much for publicity though it seems I’m stuck with it. But I felt it was important that members know the face of “that” person and not just my comments. Welcome to RDF and RDM and thank you.

Well Dr. McGwier Now I can see your face much better and add a face to that voice and text. I had no idea you were part of SkyHub for finding UAP/UFOs. I think that is great to be a part of that. I’ll have to do some more research into SkyHub. Congrads on your up to date profile and new post as moderator.

Richard — please consider scheduling another follow-up interview with him; the first one was excellent and very thought provoking.

Craig that is very generous of you. My second grade teacher called my mother to come to school and observe me. My mom was sure I was in trouble. Ms Sue told mom to just watch. I was on the playground and most of the kids were in front of me listening. My mom said what in the world is going on. Ms Sue Coleman told my mom I was teaching all the kids science. Not much has changed.

In glad your a member Craig.

OMG, a person who does not know that there is no such a thing as Nobel Prize in economics.
I would suggest going up, instead.

    Bob,

I am very interested in the project you have to get first hand UFO data. It is a passion of mine. I have been working with Ron Olch and the UFODAP effort for a while and have a PTZ 12x sky watch system currently. I am considering adding a “fish eye” whole sky camera. I also have a MADAR.
What synergy do you see between your project and UFODAP and MADAR?

Bob, your passion, energy and technological knowledge would make you a fine addition to any UFO forum, but that’s not telling the whole story of you – you’re also a great person. You’re kind, funny and incredibly intelligent too – in short, I want to be just like you when I grow up. Sadly I’m already 50 and there’s no sign of any maturity or wisdom coming over the horizon yet – so it could take a while… 🙂 So, welcome, (officially) to the family with a heartfelt cyber-hug and promise of a beer of your choice should we meet one day.

Bob….. What can I say?? It is SUCH a pleasure working with you! Everyday I learn something new and exciting.

You’re calm, kind, compassionate, unbelievable sharp – and somehow always there when I need you the most!

Thank you for being you….and thank you for that incredible BRAIN.

Glad Bob that you are here. What great contributions you have already made. Your work here and your contributions on Grant Cameron’s podcasts have been invaluable. Thank you and glad you are here. Jim

Congratulations, Dr. McGwier! Richard Dolan is my number one source for precise information. I stumbled on his YouTube channel by accident and became a member due to his attitude and sincerity and have never looked back.

Thanks for your work with RDM as moderator and SkyHub as a scientist. I’m personally stoked to build a tracker and contribute to the cloud database. I hope there is a notification function when a detection passes all the filtering that goes to the owner of the tracker as well as the cloud database. If not, please pass the suggestion along.
